Hello dear friends, I hope you’re doing well.
It’s been a busy year for me. I’ve released a best-selling non-fiction programming title, and written another that will hopefully be out before the end of the year. But I haven’t put away my fiction pen—far from it!
I’ve written a ten-chapter, 50 page novelette titled Journey to the Jeweled Woods as an introduction to the Asaria universe, and I’m excited to announce that I’m releasing it for FREE!

Journey to the Jeweled Woods tells the story of Cherin, Niv’s mother, who feels trapped by the traditions of the Ael’Shanar, yet yearns for a simple life in the Jeweled Woods. After an argument with her sister, Vella, she runs into Ren, a humble man with an identical dream. They explore that same shared dream across the pages of an old book, but misunderstandings arise.
I had a blast writing the book. What started as a simple project turned into a brief but exhilarating labor of love. I had always intended to cover Cherin and Ren’s backstory at some point, and this seemed as good a place as any.
While writing the descriptions of the Jeweled Woods, I felt as though I was there. I hope you do, too. It is truly a mystical place.
I feared the woods would not forgive me for thinning their numbers, but as I felled several, I got the sense that they knew change was inevitable, and their mighty brethren—and the very logs and planks of my new home—would carry on their legacy.
By the way, if you’ve read the title Lilly, a novella about Shareis’s mother, you may recall the book was mentioned in-universe. I actually considered this when titling this book but the name fit well, so I kept it.
