What is the enjoyment of a time of year? The spring, where growth is abundant? The summer, for when it is at its peak? The fall, when we settle in for the long sleep?

Some may profess winter is the most wonderful time of the year—perhaps even a certain few weeks. But no one really enjoys winter the most, do they? I submit it is the anticipation that is most exquisite.

The anticipation of a time is a most beautiful expression of the human spirit. We remove ourselves from the now and imagine what life will soon be. We look forward to the future, to the warmth and love, and after the time has come to pass, we feel cold and empty. Winter’s chill is most certainly upon us.

Is January just as enjoyable as December? Do the wreaths and garland instill as much comfort in us after the turning of the year?

As life fades in the fall, we learn the lesson to enjoy the time now, no matter the season. For now is the precious moment.
